Having completed the problematic upgrade of the front suspension arms and been for another alignment (I’ll post the story sometime soon); and with a track day rapidly approaching I’d decided to bite the bullet and upgrade the roll bar on my car. For me the options were either a Cybul or the GC Fabrications PRHT compatible bars. As I wanted a simple fit I elected to go for the Cybul as the GC seemed to require more work on the installation to get things back to a more OEM look. if id been stripping the car interior I’d have gone for a full cage which i think both companies can do.
I ordered the Bar from Bofi Racing as they had it in stock and their price included taxes. Delivery was within two days of ordering so after spending the morning having a tyre fitted and a track day alignment done I spent the afternoon in he baking sun fitting the bar. Good news – start to finish I had the bars replaced in a couple of hours.
There’s loads of videos on YouTube on how to fit this bar e.g: https://youtu.be/XY_nm1Sxl8U and https://youtu.be/sJAI7im9jZw?si=C9kupn01nxIbkt1g The instructions provided by Cybul with the bar were pretty accurate though a little confusing for me at the bit about where to cut the Mazda back panel to allow it to wrap the Cybul bar lower cross brace. Though in the end I just tried it in place and worked it out from there.
All the screws and holes seemed to be in the right places for my car and the pack of washers and bolts was very helpful. Her’s some pictures of the process.

It arrived neatly packaged. With essential parts ….

it takes forever to unpack it from bubble-wrap & film – a good thing. The instructions and bolts are in there too.

Then you remove the plastics and old bar

Then you put it all back together around the new bar…

Decide you’ll need to replace that perspex screen which now looks horrible. Stick the seats back in and your done …

I think it looks pretty. Now I’m thinking about what will be the next upgrade.
